All the buildings need energy to operate. The universal, most pure and most productive method is to transfer solar power. That is what Solar panels do. Made from a special substance, a square meter of solar panels are capable of producing enough energy for a two ton vehicle. With every upper level, the surface of the solar panels increases and so does the energy which is obtained from them.
The energy does not accumulate like the other resources. It is a constant value. Unlike the other resources, you can’t store it or transport to another planet.
Solar panels or Solar satellites?
This is quite arguable question. Let’s make comparison:Energy supply: - panels: significant production per unit.- satellites: the production depends of the planet position (look below the formulae).Price:- panels: as higher the level is, as higher the price is. The higher levels cost millions.- satellites: the price is a constant value. As the mine levels grow, the count of the satellites grows up progressively.Time-to-build:- panels: long time.- satellites: significantly shorter. Battles:- panels: once built, they are invulnerable. The only exception is a Death Star attack with triggered chance for destruction- satellites: easily destroyed in combat.Our hint:: Build panels first as you can. At the higher levels you will feel the time for satellites.
